ZHENJIANG, CHINA – December 11 – The Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology ("Fluid Center") at Jiangsu University (JSU) successfully hosted the External Mentor Appointment Ceremony for the university's "Young Talents" program, alongside the Jinshan Fluid Machinery Engineering Academic Salon.
The event featured the appointment of two distinguished scholars as external mentors: Professor Guo Pengcheng from Xi'an University of Technology and Professor Yao Zhifeng from China Agricultural University.
Key leadership attending the event included Yuan Shouqi, Director of the National Research Center of Pumps, and Wang Fei, Director of the Human Resources Office at JSU. The session was presided over by Zhang Desheng, Party Secretary of the Fluid Center.
In his welcome address, Director Wang Fei expressed gratitude on behalf of the university to the visiting experts for their long-standing support and care for the Fluid Center. He provided an overview of JSU’s "Young Talent Cultivation Plan," outlining specific requirements and high expectations for talent development and team building within the center. Following his remarks, Wang presented the letters of appointment to the newly engaged mentors.
Following the ceremony, Professor Guo Pengcheng delivered an academic lecture titled "Research on Multiphase Flow Mechanism and Sediment Erosion Characteristics of Impulse Turbines."
Focusing on the wear of components induced by high-speed sediment-laden jets in impulse turbines, Professor Guo detailed his research progress through both numerical simulation and experimental analysis. His findings are expected to offer solutions to critical technical challenges in major national hydraulic engineering projects.
After the lecture, Professor Guo engaged in a lively interactive session with young faculty members and graduate students. He shared his personal research experiences and provided valuable guidance on the professional growth and development of young researchers.
