WUHAN, CHINA – The 15th National Academic Conference on Hydraulic Machinery and Systems was successfully held recently at the Hilton Wuhan Optics Valley. The event was jointly sponsored by several authoritative academic institutions, including the Pump and Pump Station Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Hydroelectric Engineering (CSHE) and the Hydroelectric Equipment Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE). It was co-organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Wuhan University.
A delegation of over 10 faculty members and students from the Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology of Jiangsu University, led by Party Secretary Professor Zhang Desheng and Director Researcher Yuan Jianping, attended the conference.

Distinguished guests attending the opening ceremony included Liu Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee of HUST; Zhou Wei, Vice President of Wuhan University; and Academician Zhang Yongchuan of HUST, all of whom delivered remarks. Themed "Research and Application in the Field of Hydraulic Machinery and Systems," the conference attracted nearly 500 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, and industry enterprises nationwide. Participants gathered to discuss high-quality development strategies for the hydraulic machinery discipline and industry, aiming to serve national strategies for energy transition and green development.

During the academic sessions, Professor Zhang Desheng served as the moderator for the keynote reports. Professor Li Wei was invited to deliver a keynote report titled "Theoretical Modeling of Transient Processes and Energy Conversion Characteristics of Mixed-Flow Pumps."
In the parallel sessions, JSU researchers presented their latest findings:
·Associate Professor Gao Xiongfa presented on "Wear Characteristics and Experimental Research of Vortex Pumps Based on CFD-DEM Coupling Algorithm."
·Associate Professor Chang Hao discussed "Study on Unsteady Energy Dissipation Mechanism of Self-Priming Pumps with New Periodic Oscillating Inflow."
·Associate Professor Chen Jia presented on "Performance Improvement of Sanitary Semi-Open Centrifugal Pump Volute."
These presentations sparked strong interest and lively discussions among the attending scholars.
Through this conference, the faculty and students of the Fluid Center showcased their latest research progress, highlighting JSU's disciplinary advantages and distinct research characteristics in basic research and technological innovation within the field of hydraulic machinery.
